Three guys started the trip from Salzburg: OE2LCM, OE2MON and DJ5IW
Arriving after a stop in Amsterdam, where we meet DK2OY, DK7YY and DL8OH who were also flying to Casablanca, at 2:00 am. That was the start of a nice and safe trip up to the QTH near Rabat, thanks to Chefpilot Ben, DL6FBL - knowing the route perfectly in the darkness,hi.
The next morning was the beginn of 10 days antenna building and again antenna building:
Unpacking the antennas on the terrace and first rebuilding of the 40 Meter yagis.
All yagi antennas for 10 and 15 meters were built at the hotel site, and suited into the street up to the high band QTH - 20 and 40m yagis were to big,hi.
Building the monster 20m Cushcraft Monobanders with Tom, DL4MCF - fighting against rain wind, there were still a lot of antennas to build and to put up the towers, so no break due to wheater conditions.
Fixing antennas on the 20m tower - togheter with Wolf, OE2VEL.
Of course, all antennas came up using manpower.
A quite impressive scenary - the finished high band towers!
No problem to erect the top-load vertical for top band - later on the source of success for many contacts on this band!
Three guys, tired but satisfied after a hard day work: OE2VEL, DL1MFL and me.
As soon as the antennas worked, we had time for a little bit testing in our container shack:
The three OE2-guys representing the 20m - team.
Some listening - maybe a little bit tired?
Several QSOs were made under the callsign 5C8M.
At the time we knew, that all antennas work and we were in time, we had some really short time to relax:
Look at the waves (which are antenna-hungry too), the travel guide said 5 peoples dying on this beach every year, so I had some respect and did'nt swim to far.....
Always a highlight for me - eating and drinking.
One of my shortest sightseeing ever visisting Rabat, but Ben DL6FBL showed us a nice place to eat fresh fish:
A meeting before the contest gave us the chance to change informations with local hams, here with CN8NK:
